Ingredients

  • 1 –2 shots espresso or ½ cup strong brewed coffee
  • ¾ cup barista-style oat milk soy milk, or almond milk
  • 1 –2 teaspoons maple syrup or agave syrup optional
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract optional
  • Pinch of cinnamon or cocoa powder optional

Method

  1. Brew the espresso or strong coffee and pour it into a warm mug.
  2. Gently heat the plant-based milk until hot and steamy, but not boiling.
  3. Froth the warm milk using a milk frother, French press, blender, or hand whisk until foamy.
  4. Pour the steamed milk over the espresso.
  5. Spoon the foam on top.
  6. Sweeten with maple syrup or agave if desired.
  7. Finish with cinnamon or cocoa powder and serve immediately.

Notes

If you'd like you can sweeten it at will using honey or other plant-based sweeter.
For the creamiest vegan cappuccino, use barista-style oat milk or soy milk. Avoid boiling plant-based milk because it can separate and lose its smooth texture.
